Members ~ Introducing George!
Q. Firstly, introduce yourself – name, nickname, where you were born, how old you are, where you live, what your job is or what you study.
You don’t have to answer all of these....
A.
Hi, George; too dull for a nickname. According to my passport I was born north of the border 50 years ago but decline to accept this conventional chronology. Don’t let the white hair fool you I’m only 39 honest!
Currently living in Bristol, where I am a humble functionary of the state.
Q. What do you do in your spare time? What are you passionate about?
A.
Ah, been too passionate and done too much in the past so having a break from all of that for the time being and just having fun.
Q. What is your most treasured possession?
A.
My memories, so god help me when my mind goes.
Q. Name your top three bands
A.
The Clash; Led Zep, ZZ Top, and Elvis, obviously.
Q. Name your top three movies
A.
`Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ (Coppola, Oldman that one)
Downfall
Carry on up the Khyber
Q. What is the most important book you have read? (can be non-vampire)
A.
Animal Farm by George Orwell
Q. Which is your favourite horror/vampire book?
A.
Anything by Poe
Q. Do you think vampires are real? Explain.
A.
Physically in human form – no. Emotionally for certain. But on a more positive angle given the characteristics, (longevity, sexual irresistibility, strength, power, (usually) good looks (and that’s just the men) its an interesting alternative role model to the more rational stereotypes we see today which are probably just about as achievable.
Q. What were your reasons for joining the London Vampyre Group? What do you want to get out of being a member?
A.
Enjoy the magazine, you look like a nice bunch of people. It would be nice to meet some new people with (hopefully) the same mindset and perhaps find a better tailor. Time to let my inner goth out for a bit and you look like you have fun parties.
Q. What is your favourite word?
A.
Yes.
Q. What is your greatest fear?
A.
Waking up one morning and realising I could have gone to more parties
Q. What is the most important thing life has taught you?
A.
Yes there is a lot of crap about but this is not the rehearsal, so for goodness sake make the most of it!
Q. Give a song lyric / quote from a film or person or a passage / sentence from book that you feel embodies your approach to life.
A.
`Since everything’s so meaningless, we might as well be extraordinary’. Francis Bacon (borrowed from Nietzche).
And two pieces of insight from `Men in Black’.
Kay: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.
Zed: Gentlemen, congratulations. You're everything we've come to expect from years of government training.
Q. Do you have a live journal or personal webpage that we can link to?
A.
Good god no, that sort of thing is far too scary.
